Bolton Abbey - antique postcard

A mint postcard without a date published by Frith and Co in Reigate. This is a beautifully composed image with the stepping stones on the left leading the eye into the picture plane and curving to the right towards the ruined facade. The shadows on the right the eye downward to a dark rock in the foreground and back to the viewer. The reflections in the water are beautifully captured. Bolton Abbey has a website. It seems the stepping stones are still there albeit replaced with some newer concrete blocks.

Speaking of Francis Frith, check out the picture of him on Wikipedia looking very dudely in his travel gear.
